Whiting Powder

Description

Whiting powder cleaning agent removes excess flux, oil, cement and other residue from leaded panels.

After cementing, sprinkle whiting over the leadlight to dry it out. This is an essential material for leadlight making. The powder draws the oil out of leadlight cement to enable it to set, helps with removal of excess cement, darkens the lead and polishes the glass.

Leave to set up, but no longer than over night, and make sure you get all the putty off the lead came before it becomes too hard.  Wear a mask.

It is recommended to leave the panel flat for a minimum of a week, but as long as you can prior to installing your window as wet cement can be squeezed out by the weight of the glass and lead, leaving a messy finish when placed upright.
